Blog Hop/Friday Follow (3)

In the spirit of the Twitter Friday Follow, the Book Blogger Hop is a place just for book bloggers and readers to connect and share our love of the written word!  This weekly BOOK PARTY is an awesome opportunity for book bloggers to connect with other book lovers, make new friends, support each other, and generally just share our love of books!  It will also give blog readers a chance to find other book blogs to read!  Click the logo to participate, find other blogs and to join the fun!

This weeks question:

"What very popular and hyped book in the blogosphere did you NOT enjoy and how did you feel about posting your review?"

It's been a while since I've ran across a book I didn't like.  I really don't think I've hated any of the very popular books either.  The last book I struggled with was an Anita Blake book, Micah.  I just couldn't keep with the series anymore.  I am of the mind that I think negative reviews are important, well, the well written ones.  I like knowing what someone didn't like, what they liked, and I can make up my own mind.  I like to think that the parts I had problems with would help someone else in their decision to read a book as well as the things that I liked.  I don't feel bad for negative reviews if they are informative.

And now for Friday Follow!  Click the image if you want to participate.  Leave me a comment that you followed and a link and I will return the favor!

What do you do besides reading / reviewing as a hobby??
I like to play videogames every now and then and watch tv shows on Netflix streaming through the xbox.  Right now I am planning my wedding and I've been watching a lot of Say Yes to the Dress as well as browsing for ideas, designs for cakes and whatever else!

Wasn't so thrileed with Marked (#1 in the House of Night Series). I really would like to read the series, so i will try reading the first one again, this time with an open mind, then continuing on in the series.

I'm also a new follower to your blog. would love if you could follow me back.

It took the first couple for me to really like House of Night and then I lost interest after book 5 or so and haven't gone back.

Thanks for following!

Hi Aimee! Thanks for stopping by my blog:) I would have to agree with you on the Anita Blake series, I adored the first several, but then couldn't get into them after about book 7 and haven't picked up any since. I'm an old follower and I hope you have a great weekend!

Oh boy - I love Anita. I stopped reading after Burnt Offerings (Book 7 i think? if yes - hmm yeah didnt like much the vampire politics there) - but I bought the other books until Book 12 and just started Blue Moon which i think is okay.

I'm also buying the Marvel ones. A lot of people are saying there are too much sex after the 12th book . . . but I really really enjoy reading them (not much for Burnt Offerings) hmmm. . . id like to see for myself hehe

btw, thanks for stopping by my blog and im a new follower!!

I totally understand about the Anita Blake series. There's too many of them for me to keep up with, that I never felt like I could enjoy them without rushing.

Thanks for visiting my hop! I've never heard of this book before... hmmm. Congrats on your engagement! I'm in my teens and I watch "Say Yes to The Dress" all the time! (I don't like the Atlanta one thought...). Funny you mention it, because I was literally JUST watching it!

Love your header! - It really makes me want some chocolate and I just ate a cookie.

Hey Aimee! Thanks so much for the add! Stopping by to return the favor and become a follower!

I have to say that I love Anita Blake. I've been a fan of LKH for about 11-12 years now. I agree that the books took a drastically sexual turn after Narcissus in Chains, but that really doesn't bother me.

The problem, I think, was that LKH really didn't explain the Ardeur and it's implications as well as she could have when Anita first became "infected" with it. So, when the next few books after NIC came out, every one was like WTF?

So, the sex can be somewhat tiresome at times, but I care for the story without the sex more. Badass Anita is still in there and that's why I stick around.

Happy Hop!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I read the first Anita Blake novel earlier this year and thought it was okay but then I got filled in on what direction the story heads in and I decided I wasn't really interested in continuing with the series. I've read some passages from later books and I think I made the right decision, lol.

Have a great weekend :)

I love it! A question pertaining something other than books! Here's the
short list of what I'm doing when I'm not reading:

Cooking, gaming, gambling, drinking, smoking, golfing and sometimes even
watching TV.

I expound on all of the above at my blog. Follow me here -

Thanks for stopping by my blog, love your layout! :) very original.

I've heard loads of the Anita Blake books, but never got a real idea of what the stories were about. So I don't really know.

And I totally agree, a review that it's informative and well thought out it's always good, even if negative.

Hi :) I totally agree with the Anita Blake series. I loved the first lot of books but it just progressively smuttier and smuttier. I had a hard time with the Bree Tanner book by Stephenie Meyer. I wasn't even going to read it but my daughter had it and so I thought "Why not?" Hmm I should've chosen a different book. Thanks for coming by :)
