Intertwined by Gena Showalter

Released: September 1, 2009
Publisher: Harlequin
Rated: YA

Most sixteen-year-olds have friends. Aden Stone has four human souls living inside him: One can time-travel. One can raise the dead. One can tell the future. And one can possess another human. With no other family and a life spent in and out of institutions, Aden and the souls have become friends. But now they're causing him all kinds of trouble. Like, he'll blink and suddenly he's a younger Aden, reliving the past. One wrong move, and he'll change the future.
Or he'll walk past a total stranger and know how and when she's going to die. He's so over it. All he wants is peace. And then he meets a girl who quiets the voices. Well, as long as he's near her. Why? Mary Ann Gray is his total opposite. He's a loner; she has friends. He doesn't care what anyone thinks; she tries to make everyone happy. And while he attracts the paranormal, she repels it. For her sake, he should stay away. But it's too late.... Somehow, they share an inexplicable bond of friendship. A bond about to be tested by a werewolf shape-shifter who wants Mary Ann for his own, and a vampire princess Aden can't resist. Two romances, both forbidden. Still, the four will enter a dark underworld of intrigue and danger but not everyone will come out alive....

What I thought:

The first couple chapters were pretty slow for me, but man, once it started to really go I got hooked! I couldn't put it down until I got to the end. I thought it was very original and very different to stand out among paranormal books. Aden is such a fantastic character. Strong, independent and charming even after the rough start of his life.

I loved the premise of this book and I look forward to continuing on to the next in this new fantastic series.

I gave it 4 stars!

The premise seems a little confusing, but I've heard so many glowing reviews for this one. I'm curious to check it out for myself. Thanks for your review!

I am still on the fence about what I think about this book... On the one hand the storyline is super unique and unlike anything I have ever read before, but on the other hand, I just don't think that it lived up to its potential. But since I always feel like I cannot not finish a series, I will read the next one, hopefully with reading it I will be able to make a more concrete decision on what I think of it... ;)

All reviews are spoiler free unless otherwise stated. This is an award free zone. Thanks for thinking of me! But I don't have time to pass on the awards.
