Desires of the Dead by Kimberly Derting

Released: February 15, 2011
Publisher: HarperCollins
Rated: YA

The missing dead call to Violet. They want to be found.

Violet can sense the echoes of those who've been murdered—and the matching imprint that clings to their killers. Only those closest to her know what she is capable of, but when she discovers the body of a young boy she also draws the attention of the FBI, threatening her entire way of life.

As Violet works to keep her morbid ability a secret, she unwittingly becomes the object of a dangerous obsession. Normally she'd turn to her best friend, Jay, except now that they are officially a couple, the rules of their relationship seem to have changed. And with Jay spending more and more time with his new friend Mike, Violet is left with too much time on her hands as she wonders where things went wrong. But when she fills the void by digging into Mike's tragic family history, she stumbles upon a dark truth that could put everyone in danger.

What I thought:

I've been waiting (im)patiently for this book to come out. After finishing the first book I was excited to know I had found something that was unique, fresh, and different from different ya paranormal books I have read. The second was no different! I just loved the book!

We are getting to see a different spin on this as we get through part of the book and I'm excited to see where this goes. The addition to the story, I think, will make for a very interesting series. And I'm glad the author didn't come right out and say what was going on. Kim left some mystery in there, so we are left guessing just where this might go. Normally I'm not a fan of stuff like this, since I just have to know, I think the anticipation and building will have me coming back for more... even if I can't seem to wait as patiently as I'd might like.

I don't know about you guys, but I love Violet and Jay. I was a bit worried in this book, but the struggles of the relationship just make it seem more real. As you all know, I'm not a fan of love triangles and that is what I love about this book. The relationship is strong, even if things aren't always alright. The only thing I'm not happy about is the wait for the next book. Oh well!

Yeah, great review.

I'm also not a fan of love-triangles so it's good to hear that Violet and Jay's relationship was strong. Really need to buy the book soon.
