Friday Follow (9)

Today's questions:

What is the book that you really don't want to admit to loving??

Well, I'm not sure there really is a book I'm embarrassed to have liked. It's not that I don't want to admit I love it, it's that I was a little embarrassed when my sister found one of the Sookie Stackhouse books on my shelf. I know the sex scenes in there are mild but I didn't want to admit to reading a series that had those kind of scenes. Luckily, she was reading the same series and loves it! But now that most people I talk books with is online, I'm not embarrassed by sex scenes or reading romances since I hid behind a internet persona. In real life I tend to blush when talking about all the romances I read.

 Happy April Fools Day!

That's pretty funny! I think Sookie's books are kind of tame compared to some of the other series I read! Have a great weekend!

I love the Sookie Stackhouse/Southern Vampire books. Eric is one of my all time favorite characters. I tell everyone about them. I even gave them to my mom. She likes them too, but I won't borrow her the T.V. show True Blood since I think it is a little racy for her taste.

When I was substituting I caught one of my students reading a black dagger brotherhood novels in class. I told her that I knew what was in that book and I couldn't believe she was reading it at school. She laughed and said that I was the first teacher to have read them and looked a little embarrassed.

I've seen some surprising answers but I think my response to this week's Follow Friday question will shock most.

I have to say that I loved the Harry Potter series but have a really hard time admitting it. It's teenage stuff. Perfect for the YA audience, sure.

But a grown man who just last week blogged about wishing he could step inside the Rogue Warrior book series with Navy SEALs shooting, looting, drinking and wenching has got a real hard time admitting to loving teenie-bopper Harry Potter.

I go into much more detail on my blog and welcome all comments - http://www.howardsherman.net

All I ask is that everyone try and keep their comments civil. It's cool to disagree but flame wars are NOT cool.

Thank God it's Follow Friday!

your blog is so pretty! i am so thrilled to find a fellow lover of the sookie series, even if we don't admit it. haha. i'm kinda w/you on not telling people you read books w/sex scenes. as a writer i've tackled several but even that is a little awkward, wondering if it's believable, especially when i'm writing from a guy's point of view!

thanks for the follow, chica. i'm following your blog now! :D

I can absolutely relate to this- I get super embarrassed when close family or random friends know I'm reading a book with romantic-type scenes in it. It's just kind of awkward.

At least your sister liked the books, too! :) I posted something similar too- books that are like straight up romance (when I mostly read fantasy with a bit of romance). :)
