When high school junior Natalie--or Dr. Aphrodite, as she calls herself when writing the relationship column for her school paper--is accused of knowing nothing about guys and giving girls bad relationship advice, she decides to investigate what guys really think and want. But the guys in her class won't give her straight or serious answers. The only solution? Disguising herself as a guy and spending a week at Underwood Academy, the private all-boy boarding school in town. There she learns a lot about guys and girls in ways she never expected--especially when she falls for her dreamy roommate, Emilio. How can she show him she likes him without blowing her cover?
What I thought
I was pretty excited to finally get around to reading this one. I had hoped for some outrageously funny events. I admit, I had She's the Man (Amanda Bynes movie) in my head when I started out with this. In the end, I think I had too much built up for the story to really love it.I have a hard time really imagining something like this would really work (even in a movie, like the above referenced). But it is fun to watch as Nat, aka Natalie, tries to hide the fact that she's female in an all boys school. It was fun, but failed to truly impress.
I did like the theatre aspect of this. I thought it was interesting how Natalie had viewed her competition and how it plays out in the book. I wasn't so keen on the romance part of it, it seemed a little rushed.
This is read worthy, I just might suggest picking it up from the library before buying a copy.

Thanks for the great review. I had been really excited to read this one as well, but it sounds like it would be a tad difficult to pull off well. I'll be on the lookout for it at my library instead. :)
Teehee. This cover makes me giggle! I have it in my TBR pile to I should get to it soon it sounds like a light fun read!

Thanks for the review! I've seen this book around, but never actually felt like picking it up.. I guess the story line doesn't really appeal to me (I've watched way too many Korean/Japanese dramas with a similar plot for this book to surprise me in any way).
I love the cover tho!
Thanks for reviewing it :)

Oh no, that's too bad you didn't like this one more! I have it on my WL and was told it was HYSTERICAL but now I'm worried. I guess we all have a different opinion on that so maybe I shouldn't worry too much. Maybe I'll just watch for it at the library instead though.
Just wanted you to know I haven't dropped off the face of the earth, I've been on an extended vacation and haven't been commenting much but I have been reading your reviews in my email. And I'll get home late next week and hopefully can comment a bit more.
I hope you are having fun on your vacation!! Where did you go?
Thanks for the review! I've been wanting to read this for ages and now I think I can go in with lowered expectations. I might enjoy it more that way.
